Square 5.16×4.16×0.75mm Silver Sintered NdFeB Magnets
Sintered neodymium magnets (also known as NdFeB magnets) are the most common type of rare earth magnets.
They consist of an alloy of neodymium, iron and boron forming the Nd2Fe14B tetragonal crystal structure. Neodymium magnets have the strongest magnetic properties on the market today. And they are available in a wide range of shapes, sizes and grades. The new magnets can be used in a variety of applications including high performance motors, brushless DC motors, magnetic separation, magnetic resonance imaging, sensors, switches and loudspeakers.

They are suitable for applications requiring high induction and small size magnets or motors.
Magnetic properties will vary depending on the direction of alignment during compaction as well as size and shape.
Maximum service temperature and corrosion
Determining whether to use a new magnet depends, for example, on the maximum temperature of the application, the required magnetic output at typical use temperatures, and the total cost of the system.
New magnets have some limitations due to their corrosive behavior. In wet applications, the use of protective coatings is highly recommended. Coatings that have been used successfully include epoxy coatings, nickel plating, and combinations of these coatings. arnold is also able to apply poly-parylene coatings to new magnets. The effectiveness of the coating depends on the quality of the substrate. magnet magnetic material has evaluated the substrate corrosion resistance of several manufacturers and only offers licensed, highly corrosion resistant materials produced under strict controls.

How long do neodymium magnets last?
Neodymium magnets are permanent magnets that lose a small percentage of their performance every 100 years if kept in optimal operating conditions.
There are two factors that can shorten the life of a magnet
Heat
If the temperature of the magnet exceeds the maximum operating temperature (e.g. 80℃ for N42 grade neodymium magnets), the magnet will lose its magnetism and will not recover after cooling. Samarium Cobalt magnets are not as strong as Neodymium magnets, but they operate at much higher temperatures, up to 350℃.
Corrosion
If the plating on the magnet is damaged and water gets inside, the magnet will rust, which will again cause a loss of magnetic properties. Both samarium cobalt and ferrite magnets are resistant to corrosion, but not as strong as neodymium magnets.
The main advantages of neodymium magnet material
Quick Facts about Neodymium Magnets
Quick Facts approximately Neodymium Magnets
Required saturation magnetization field: ≥ 33 kOe.
Manufacturing methods - sintering (maximum common), injection molding, laminating, or calendering.
Available shapes blocks, rods, discs, rings, arc segments, etc.
Available grades: Current the highest grade N58
Machining: Neodymium magnets should be grinded by diamond wheels. Compare to other magnetic material, such as AlNiCo, SmCo,NdFeB magnets are relativer easier to machine. With advanced technology, we can machining mirco with size 0.1mm and can processing the magnets with strange shape.
Surface treatment of NdFeB magnet material
Painting, coating or plating of NdFeB is usually recommended, although certain grades have recently been manufactured which exhibit higher oxidation resistance.
Plating NdFeB is a difficult process, and commercial plating companies unfamiliar with the specialized plating techniques required are unlikely to achieve plating with good adhesion on new magnets.
Nickel, zinc or tin plating provides good corrosion resistance for NdFeB magnets, but these may require longer lead times or larger volumes. New magnets can also be plated using ion vacuum deposition (IVD) technology. The thickness of this special plating is very controllable and provides excellent adhesion to the material.
NdFeB has also successfully developed a variety of organic coatings that exhibit good corrosion resistance. For particularly harsh environments, it is recommended to use a combination of coating techniques or to encapsulate the material in a hermetically sealed housing.
